Mightier Than The Sword

I've been working on making wedding invitations lately. :) They're chocolate brown cardstock with translucent vellum over it, held together with ribbon. They also have a decorative punch through the vellum at the bottom of the page. I like 'em.

Am I crazy for making the invitations myself instead of buying them somewhere? Maybe, but it hasn't been bad at all, and I like how they're turning out. Plus, it's going to end up being a bunch cheaper than it would be were I to get something pre-made. :)

It's been nice getting back into doing some calligraphy too - addressing the envelopes. I'm definitely not as practiced as I used to be, but I've enjoyed it. There's just something nice about the flow of ink and the shaping of letters. It's almost relaxing to me in a weird sort of way. Ask my siblings... they make fun of me for writing my ABCs over and over when I'm bored or tired. "Ya learned your alphabet yet there, Jewels?" Hehe...

Lydia has obligingly agreed to take these back home with her and mail them out at the appropriate time. :) I sure hope no one moves between now and then, cause I won't be able to re-address anything!

You know abecedarian sentences are just plain cool.

Happy Wednesday! :)

  2. Making invitations was actually a lot of fun to me! Of course mine were not nearly as nice as yours appear to be. I am very impressed!
